Sixth Form Prospectus and Options Form 2024-2026

As Year 11 students enter the final stages of preparation for their GCSE examinations, it is also the time for them to start considering the next step in their academic/career pathway. At St Joseph's we offer pupils a vibrant and supportive learning community, which for the last three years, has been graded in the top 25% of Sixth Forms across the UK based on achievement. We welcome you to our dedicated section of the Sixth Form page containing all the information you will need to make informed choices, including our Sixth Form Prospectus, the Options Pathways Form.

Pathways Evening 2024
Thursday 1st February, 5.30pm

At the Pathways Evening, you will have the opportunity, along with your child, to speak to senior members of staff and hear from subject leaders regarding the suitability of specific subjects at Advanced level, and possible future pathways for your children, which may include apprenticeships, university study, or how A Levels can enhance employment opportunities. We will be pleased to answer any questions you may have and offer suggestions regarding the most appropriate pathway for your child at the meeting.

"I urge you to attend the evening at St Joseph’s and look forward to seeing you"
Mr L Green, Head of Sixth Form

Next Steps - Google Form

Following the Year 11 Pathways evening, your child will then be asked to complete a Google Form during form registration time with their form tutor to express their likely subject choice post Year 11 and also indicate their future pathway. The Google form will also be used at 1-to-1 meetings your child will have about their next steps during the Spring Term.

INITIAL FORM SUBMISSION BY: TBC
Students should submit a DRAFT Pathways Form to assist us in planning for next year, but you are reminded that they are not tied to these options yet (click link below for Google Pathways Form). Mr Green, Head of Sixth Form will be happy to answer any questions or clarify the process if you have any problems.

COLLABORATION SUBJECTS 2024-2026

We are delighted to work in collaboration with our partner institutions, Bassaleg School, John Frost SchoolNewport High School and Coleg Gwent as part of the Newport West Consortium of 16-19 providers (click on the school name to go to their website). Working in collaboration with each other has permitted our students the opportunity to study a far greater range and variety of subjects, and has ensured that over 30 different A Levels are offered to our students. This scheme has been running smoothly for the last two years, enabling our students and others from across the city to study courses which otherwise may not have been available.
