Skiing USA 2016

After two years of planning we finally set off at 5am from school to make our way to Heathrow. The first part of our trip was in Lake Placid where we skied at Whiteface for five days. The skiing was amazing and we managed to cover the whole resort, including a few of us being able to ski the 1984 Olympic downhill run – Skyward!

The America ski trip was an incredible experience.

Students who were beginners made incredible progress and everyone was able to ski even in conditions reaching -30C.

After a wonderful time skiing, we then travelled to New York where we had a surreal first night  viewing the skyline at dusk from the ‘Top of The Rock’ and ate in Times Square! For the last two days we fulfilled our stereotypical role as tourists. From the Brooklyn Bridge to the Statue of Liberty, we had the chance to see the heart of the Empire State from all possible perspectives.

Away from all the excitement we took some time aside to visit the 9/11 memorial ‘Ground Zero’ and this was a truly moving experience. After ice-skating in Central Park we concluded our amazing adventure with a full-on shopping expedition, where many holes were burned in many wallets.
