Friends of St Joseph's
Seeking your views on parental engagement support
Parentkind, formerly PTA UK, has spent the past 60 years supporting PTAs with the invaluable work they do in schools. It has now joined up with Parent Councils UK to support schools directly, to help engage their parents more effectively to achieve better educational outcomes for all children.Parentkind is keen to get the views from school leaders as to the best way to support these parental engagement efforts. If you can spare five minutes of your time answering this anonymous survey, it will help shape the Parentkind schools network package on parental engagement later this year.
The Friends of St Joseph's is a small and friendly group of parents, teachers and friends of children attending the school. Our aim is to raise funds to enhance provisions which enrich the children's experiences. Anybody interested is very welcome to attend our meetings which are held at the school.
Chair: Mrs Deb Knight-Davis
Date of next Meeting: March 28th 2018, 6pm.
This meeting will be held in the school conference room - new members are very welcome.

Help us raise money by the click of a button:
We are now a registered cause with a well-established fund-raising website www.easyfundraising.org.uk
Click on the link above and type in 'Friends of St Joseph's RC High School Newport' in the Support a Good Cause section. You can then carry on shopping with your chosen retailer as normal, there are over 2,500 to choose from. A percentage of any money you spend will be donated to Friends of St Josephs by the retailer. You can also download a 'Find and Remind' toolbar from the easyfundraising site.
They also run a search engine called Easysearch. By using Easysearch instead of Google or any other search engine, you can make a real difference. Easysearch is completely free and by making just 10 searches a day, you could raise around £20 a year for the school.
Imagine that total if everyone was using it...
Our fund raising events include regular monthly car boot sales from April – October. The dates for which will be advertised in the South Wales Argus and listed above.
We recently held our first vintage tea which was a great success.
It was held at St Gabriel's RC Church and we received some lovely comments about the event.
"Excellent idea. Warm welcome. Tasty food. Please do again!"
"What a great fundraiser and glorious afternoon activity"
We will be arranging another Vintage Tea in the near future. Please contact us for more information.
Want to help?
Are you a parent/teacher/friend of St Joseph's who can offer a few hours to help at the forthcoming boot sale? There are many ways in which you can help us even if you can't spare much time or don't want to commit too much. We currently hold a few events a year and support school events (but could do more if we had additional help). If you are willing to help prior to or during an event please contact us.
If you have any connections with local businesses that may be willing to assist or sponsor us in some way please let us know. Also, some companies offer a system of matched giving where they will match the funds raised by their employee. If you are unsure please ask your employer
